The Gamma Theta Window Replacement Project | Phase One

Let me paint you a picture.

It's dinner time at the Beta house. The dining room is full. The food is hot. The conversation is flowing. And your brothers are staring out windows so old, so foggy, and so drafty that they literally cannot see the Tri Delts walking by. Brothers. This cannot stand.

The House That Built Us Needs Us Back

As many of you know, GDBA (Gamma Delta Building Association) did a major capital improvement that transformed the house from what many of us remember from the '80s and '90s. The place looks great. But here's the thing about a house like ours, it's like an old battleship. There's always work to do. Or think of it like the Golden Gate Bridge: by the time you finish painting one side, it's time to start over.

Right now, the most urgent project is one you might not have thought about since you last pulled back the curtains on a Sunday morning and tried to figure out where you were.

Windows

Did you know the Beta house has 93 windows, and approximately 80% of them are over 100 years old?

No insulation. Worn-out frames. Exposed, dried-out wood. And in winter, heat is escaping that house like a Phi Pi girl on a Sunday morning walk of shame. Fast, quietly, and with no intention of coming back.

It is time.

Phase One: The Dining Room

We're not boiling the ocean here. We're starting smart 10 windows, dining room, first floor. The goal is to have Phase One complete before Homecoming weekend, so when you walk back into that house, you'll look through a clear window into the future your brothers deserve.

Here's the logistical reality: there are no window installers in Pullman or Moscow. Every crew has to come from Spokane, which means travel, lodging, lifts, ladders, and equipment must be transported 2+ hours away. The math only works when we batch jobs together. That's why we're moving 10 windows at a time, and why we need to plan 6 to 8 weeks out to make it happen on schedule.

Our alumni superintendent, Reid G. Johnson, #1033 '75, and the great Dan Young #1102 '84 are already going to bat to get Phase One done before Homecoming. They need us behind them. Will you help?

Basic Beta Math

Each window runs approximately $3,000 installed. Phase One = 10 windows = $30,000.

Here's how you can be part of it:

  • Pledge a window or a room: $3,000.+ gets one new window installed in the dining room or part of your favorite room.

  • Buy a window, make it yours, name it, own it

  • Share a window, team up with your pledge class, and split the cost

  • Donate what you can, and we will be grateful. We have 1200 Alumni, so let's see what KAI love can do.

We already have 5-6 brothers committed at the $3,000 level. Every dollar beyond that gets us closer to 10 windows by Homecoming.

Our vendor is Northwest Windows out of Spokane, a committed partner ready to move when we are.

Why Does This Matter?

Because Beta brothers are in the top 10% at WSU. They should eat dinner with a clear view, not stare through century-old glass at a foggy future. Because the house has stood for over 100 years, and with the right investment, it'll stand 100 more. And because this is our first alumni-funded capital project, a chance to show the active chapter and the University what Gamma Theta alumni are made of.

This is our first window into something bigger. Let's open it.
