Mentor Match: Brothers Guiding the Next Generation

One of the greatest advantages of being a Beta is that you never walk the path alone. The bonds we built at the Gamma Theta chapter extend far beyond the years in Pullman. Today, those connections can become something even more powerful, a mentorship.
That’s the idea behind Mentor Match, a new initiative designed to connect experienced Beta alumni with undergraduate brothers who are beginning to navigate careers, leadership, and life after college.
For many students, the transition from campus to career can feel uncertain. Questions about internships, industries, networking, and professional direction can be overwhelming. But within the Beta Brotherhood sits a tremendous resource: hundreds of alumni who have already walked that path.
Mentor Match creates a simple way to bridge that gap.
How It Works
The program pairs undergraduate Betas with alumni volunteers willing to share their experiences, perspectives, and encouragement. Mentorship can take many forms:
A few career conversations over coffee or Zoom
Advice on internships or first jobs
Guidance on leadership and decision-making
Introductions to professional networks
Simply being a trusted sounding board
The commitment is intentionally light, but the impact can be enormous. Often, a single conversation can shape a young brother’s direction.
Why Mentorship Matters
Think back to your own journey. Most of us can point to someone who helped us along the way, a professor, employer, family member, or perhaps a Beta brother who offered guidance at the right moment.
Mentorship accelerates learning. It builds confidence. It opens doors.
And for alumni, it offers something just as meaningful: the opportunity to give back to the brotherhood that helped shape our own lives.
The Strength of the Beta Network
Gamma Theta has always been known for its strong alumni community. With more than a thousand Betas connected to WSU, the range of experience across industries from business and finance to engineering, technology, medicine, and entrepreneurship is extraordinary.
Mentor Match simply activates that network. Imagine a sophomore interested in finance speaking with a Beta who has spent 30 years on Wall Street. Or a young entrepreneur gaining advice from an alumnus who built and sold a company. Or a graduating senior receiving guidance on navigating their first job. That’s the power of the Beta network in action.
A Simple Way to Make a Big Difference
You don’t need to commit hours each week. Often, the most valuable thing you can provide is perspective. A few conversations each year can help a younger brother think bigger, avoid common mistakes, and step confidently into the next chapter of life. And along the way, you may find that the experience is just as rewarding for you.
Join the Mentor Match Program
If you’re interested in serving as a mentor or a student seeking to be matched with an alumni mentor, we invite you to participate. The process is simple and flexible, and we’ll help connect brothers based on interests, career paths, and experience.
Because Beta has been in Pullman for more than 100+ years. It’s a lifetime of brothers helping brothers succeed.
