Alumni Pound Nails and Paint like Super Pledges

Updated: Sep 26

The Alumni Advisors and the Gamma Theta Building Association (GTBA) gathered this summer for a week at the Beta House. This marked the second annual event, and anyone with skills was invited to participate, as there was plenty of work to be done. The event featured ongoing maintenance, encompassing both minor and major projects and repairs.

Projects such as upgrading the fire department's sprinkler heads require considerable time and money, as overall maintenance is beyond the scope of alumni resources.

The 100-year-old building now has over 100 minor issues that need attention.

We still have a long way to go in the Centennial Campaign. The goal will be to close out the final $1 million in debt. To date, WSU brothers have pledged and/or donated $1,824,600 to the cause.

A big shout-out to Dan Young, Todd Morton, and Tadd Manroe, who worked as project managers to bring the house up to Beta Standards.

Although we have checked off many of the projects on the "Improvement/Repair To-Do List", there will always be more projects and improvements that need our attention. The To-Do list is a living document that constantly evolves as we complete projects and add new ones. If you would like more information or have specific skills or professional contacts that you believe could be helpful, please contact Dan Young or Todd Morton.

Many hands make light work, but reconnecting with brothers is equally essential. "Bring your sleeping bag and choose your favorite room." The Beta House transformed into a "fort" for the older guys for a week. It became an "old guy" fort for a week.

The specific dates for the Third Annual Alumni Work Week will be posted soon, but typically, the week after the men move out of the house in the spring semester, around the first week of May.

So next year, grab your sleeping bag, gather your work clothes, and remember a work week like no other.  Place a reminder on your calendar for May 2026. Summer in Pullman is super chill, and there are no crowds at the Coug. If you want to escape your wife, you can hit the golf course and stay at the Marriott for a low-cost, no-surcharge weekend with your Beta Brother!
